In his essay, The Age of Nonpolarity, * president of the Council on Foreign Relations Richard Haass wrote, "America no longer has the luxury of a 'with-us-or-against-us' foreign policy." He argued that multilateralism is key to future U.S. success in all social and business arenas, including energy consumption, international security and safety, poverty and disease, the global economy and as well as for promoting world stability.Now more than ever the call to educate a
new generation of well-rounded, multilingual speakers, readers, writers and thinkers is important to everyone’s future.
Most colleges do require some language study for graduation- regardless of major. Although not required for graduation, students are highly encouraged to continue their language studies beyond the first two years. Students who do so may take an entrance exam for the university in which they plan to attend their senior year. Those that pass are able to obtain theri college credit for one or two classes without taking the classes. Furthermore, there is increased demand in the job market for individuals who are possess some language skills.
This intensified course is a continuation of the beginner class. The goal of this course is to increase fluency and comprehension. Students will continue their study of the francophone world with geography and reading. Anyone needing extra help may eat lunch in my room during A lunch and get tutoring. I am also here every day until about 4:30 so there is no excuse! Tests are given with at least one week notice with several reminders. If your child is absent, you or they may check my website to find out homework and tests for the week. Students amy get any handouts the day they return to school.
Finally, You are welcome to sit in whenever you wish! Be warned though, you will be required to speak only French!!!
